Clinics nearing completion
Mberengwa RDC have been busy utilising devolution funds to shape up the district. The Marirazhombe and Bayayi clinic are some of the projects that are currently underway and are progressing very well. The building have already been roofed and plastered and currently builders are working on skirting.
This development will help a lot of people in communities around the areas. People used to travel long distances to get treatment or maternity facilities. It will come as a relief to many people because of transport shortages costs. Since clinics mainly provide non-emergence outpatient care thats routine and preventive, this will help reduce congestion at hospitals and allow hospital staff to focus mainly on inpatient care. “I am glad to be part of this winning team that is constructing a clinic that will benefit all of us at the end of the day. We thank the Government for the devolution funds", says one woman from the Bayayi community who is assisting in the project.
Mberengwa RDC sees this as a step up the ladder since it is their duty to make sure that communities have working health facilities. Florence Khumalo, councillor for ward 20 said the clinic was coming at the right time when population in the area was increasing yet there are no health facilities.
She said council had provided cement and other building materials while the villagers were coming in with labour and pit and river sand which they get within their locality.
“This clinic which is under Chief Ngungumbane area will serve three other wards which is a welcome development in terms of service delivery. The villagers must have such services within their wards in line with the devolution agenda set by the Government,” said Clr Khumalo.
