Electrified borehole for mataga growth point

borehole

The Council managed to construct an electrified borehole for Mataga Growth point residents in the face of the shortage of water caused by the inconsistencies of supply by ZINWA. The Council used the devolution lot to help communities around the growth point access clean and safe water.

The community appreciated this gesture by MRDC and engaged its Committee to the management of the borehole. Engineer Mhike advised the community at the budget consultation meeting held in November to be aware that MRDC does not own the borehole , the councils enters in as a form of assistance, so Mataga Area Committee should create a strategy for proper maintenance.

The borehole serves more than 300 people in the growth point and other surrounding communities. "This is a great escape from cholera, we were using water from the river for consumption", a beneficiary is quoted to have said.
