Roads rehabilitation underway
Mberengwa Rural District Council has started the year 2021 on a high note, embarking on a rigorous road rehabilitation campaign, patching and repairing road networks across the district. As of current, headed by Mr Mhike, Civil Engeneering Technician, the Roads team is working on roads network in Mberengwa Centre, adding to the already endless lists of roads already graded and which are to be graded.
The CEO, MR Thompson Maeresera has committed the Roads Department to indiscriminately perfect the roads in the district regardless of which stakeholder is responsible for some roads, since not all roads are under the care of Mberengwa RDC. This resolve has awakened out of the imperative need of dealing with the excessive road degradation caused by this year’s excessive rainfalls.
The establishment of proper, well maintained road networks helps not only the Council`s operations in the district, but helps create conducive environments for our investors in their transportation endeavours, the CEO remarked, "...and we will never forget that in maintaining our roads, we maintain our vehicles, that`s killing two birds with one stone at once". The Council risked huge funds in the procurement of a back-hole loader, tractor and dumper, all of which are on site and are already operational.
